From Engineering Exposition
All student research competition projects are judged by volunteer judges from the fields of education, engineering, and science. Please read below for more details on how to become a judge and the important role that these volunteers play in E-Expo.

Competition Description
Students are asked to present their research in a poster format to a panel of judges from various backgrounds as the project in one of two divisions: undergraduate or graduate. Judging will occur in a single round where students give an oral presentation of their research accompanied by a poster. The highest scores will be tallied and announced at our annual Engineers' Ball. More detail on the Student Research competition rules can be found here: Student Research Competition Rules.
Role as a Judge
Judges who volunteer to evaluate student research competitions at E-Expo must be familiar with the sciences and technology or at least one of the seven majors awarded by the Speed School of Engineering: Industrial, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Computer, and Mechanical Engineering.
Poster Abstracts
As students register for the competition, their project titles and abstracts will be posted to Engineering Exposition 2010 Student Research Competition Entries. While judges are allowed and encouraged to read over these entries before the competition day to get an idea for projects that they may be judging, it should be noted that may late entries are possible and projects will continue to be added up until the day before the event as students register.
During the Competition
Upon arrival, judges are to check-in where they will pick up an E-Expo T-Shirt, brochure and a judging packet. After check-in, all judges will be provided with a light breakfast, lunch, access to a hospitality suite stocked with food and drinks. This year, the competition will be similar to last year, and will take place during the second half of the day (from noon to 4pm after the Keynote) giving all exhibitors and judges time in the morning to check-in and enjoy the festivities of E-Expo.
Awards Description
Each year, a generous donation from ElectroFin of $2,500 is awarded to the winning posters in the research competition. Awards are given for the top places in each department and for the overall winner of the undergraduate and graduate competition.
